Efflorescence: The Beauty of Imperfection, is a series of chrysanthemum portraits that explore the cultural ideals surrounding stereotypical beauty with regard to the flower, specifically the chrysanthemum, through examination of the unruly variants of this flower. My purpose in creating this series is to cause the viewer to experience a deeper appreciation for concepts beyond the stereotypical ideals of beauty.

In order to emphasize the unique qualities of these chrysanthemums I present them in isolation, typically without stem or leaf, on a flat background. These forms speak to the remarkable qualities of life and nature and our ability to recognize and appreciate them.

Call, text or email me for inquiry.

This unique chrysanthemum portrait focuses on the beauty of the irregular form. The graceful and unique structure of this chrysanthemum refuses to comply with the standard definition of beauty.
